The Big Pen is for landowners who have stopped trying to catch hogs one at a time. It is a panel-built pen, put together from the same heavy tubing and 6 gauge wire panels as the rest of our traps, sized large enough to hold a whole sounder rather than the two or three that walk in first.
Why Whole-Sounder Capture
Catch three hogs out of a sounder of twelve and you have taught the other nine what a trap is. Those nine get harder to catch every time. A pen sized for the whole group is the difference between reducing a population and educating it.
Build
- Frame: 1½”, fourteen gauge square steel tubing with bracing
- Panels: 6 gauge wire panels, MIG welded to the frame
- Finish: prime coated tubing
- Configuration: panel built, sized to the site
Setting It Up
Because it is panel built, the Big Pen goes up on site and can be reconfigured or moved as the hogs shift ground. If you want the pen supplied with a loading ramp and panel gates as one package, look at the Pro Pen.
